Clubs

There are a variety of different student clubs underrepresented students in science and engineering disciplines at UCSB as well as university organizations that perform outreach. The clubs have several activities, ranging from mentoring for UCSB students to outreach activities at the community colleges and K-12 schools.

 

WiSH

The purpose of WISH is to:

  • 1. Discuss new engineering breakthroughs
  • 2. Learn new knowledge through workshops
  • 3. Assist female undergrads to become successful in the computer science/ computer engineering major
  • 4. Reach out to local junior high and high school girls about becoming engineers.

Los Ingenieros

Mission:
Dedicated to serve its members and the community in the advancement of their math, science, and engineering disciplines. To provide our members with professional exposure, leadership opportunities, scholarships, community involvement, and a desire for the pursuit of the highest level of education. Our organization is also dedicated to promoting these fields to students of all school levels ranging from elementary through high school through our various outreach activities.

ACM - Association of Computing Machinery

The ACM is a national organization directed towards uniting, educating, and supporting Computer Scientists. There are over 500 chapters world wide and UCSB has its own chapter. We are working to bring new opportunities to current UCSB Engineering students. Our goal is to plan events, projects, work shops, study sessions, and peer to peer mentoring. These activities will help in creating a friendly, supportive, and thriving environment for students to excel and have a good time.

Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)

The National SACNAS Organization encourages Chicano/Latino and Native American students, along with students of other races, to pursue higher education; and to assist them in obtaining the advanced degrees necessary for science research, industry, leadership, and teaching careers at all levels.

Society of Women Engineers

Society of Women Engineers is a student group on campus dedicated to the sucess of women in the various fields of Engineering and Science Technology.
